The thing about the Valentine suicide is nuts. It is a shame that some people are some sad and depressed, that they would follow some guy over the computer and killed themselves all at once. All a person has to do is catch someone in the right mode, and they will do anything.

What's this? Valentine Suicide? Sounds horrible...

Yes I heard about this in the Sunday telegraph, or more accurately I read about it in that excellent newspaper. This happened a few years ago in Britain I believe, though not on quite such a grand scale. People made a pudding which they all ate one night and committed suicide that way. it's extremely worrying, especially given the open-house nature of the internet, and also that innocent children were apparently dragged into the mix.

you have to wonder don't you, what kind of person would be able to exact such influence over others that they would commit suecide?

NYpride..yes they will when your suicidal and someone ofers you a way out,you will grab it with both hands, and squeeze the feckin life out of it ..I'm not attacking you but you obviously have little idea of the irrational and desperate despair of a suicidal person..however the fact that these poor sods had looked to this dispicable headcase to encite them to commit the final act, suggests that not all of them may have intened to kill themselves...they may have been simply screaming "help me!!".

well this is very true, and while I can understand that if you are suicidal you can't see any other way out, why is it that you would have this need to take others with you? like that man fo instance, and what about people who kill themselves and all their family ...

Suicide is not a rational notion in the vast majority of cases....there is therefore no point in trying to explain it. the most we can try and do is understand in individual cases.

This reminds me of somethign I learned in seventh grade, where parents would make their children bomb places and die in that bombing, jsut to show patriotic loyalty. I say jsut because, of course, they were willign to sacrifice their children to show pride in their country, and loyalty. How horrible is this? So when people take people with them when committing suicide, I think these two situations are similar.

I think that if these people are so intent on ending their lives they should be left to it, the world is overpopulated anyway. Unfortunately, the worlds biggest problem is that their are sheep and sheepdogs, in other words, their are followers and leaders. The followers are too stupid to make all of their decisions themselves and have to be dictated to by either: people books or media, the leaders are too often willing to take advantage of this.

WW.I hope you never feel the way I have on 2 occasions your opinion is ignorant callous and devoid of insight you obviously haven't looked into the mind of someone suicidal,I have tried it twice and on each occasion I was deadly serious, its attitudes like yours that make some vulnerable people feel completely abandoned...
...............................
.....SugarBaby...in some cases these people have suffered a marital break up and they have also reached a state where the breakdown, has evolved into psychosis, they cannot see anything beyond black irrationality, absolute fear and the deepest despair, in their mind their family is also suffering and they must be saved from the torment within...

I have actually considdered the possibility of commiting suicide but never bothered because I thought I'd cock it up. People in that frame of mind are usually thinking of themselves only, and not how other people might feel about their actions. I've only seen one example of someone wanting to commit suicide with a jenuin reason and btw that wasn't me. I think that people who alert others to their suicidal intentions are very selfish inconsiderate and uncaring and if that's the attitude they display towards other people, that's the attitude other people should display towards them.

such a lack of self confidence is very disappointing as is your dispicable, heartless, cruel, callous and self righteous attitude...

Also you are generalising more than is necessary its impossible to be so narrow minded about suicdal people...however you are partly right on 1 point, in some cases the victim is only thinking of themselves because that is ALL you CAN think of..you are trapped deep inside yourself and there is nothing else on the horizon but that final act....

....2 minutes before the 1st attempt I felt unbearably guilty and hated myself for being so weak, and inflicting such pain on my family, until you have truly been ill you cannot understand the depth of emotion before and after...almost every day for me is a constant struggle not to give in......
